My project draws inspiration from *The New Necklace*, a
painting by William McGregor Paxton. The artwork, with its
meticulous attention to light, fabric, and elegance, serves
as a gateway to exploring the cultural exchange between
China and the Western world during the 1920s. This period
saw a dynamic fusion of cultural influences, with the West
enchanted by the allure of Eastern aesthetics, while China, in
turn, embraced elements of Western modernity. The project
centers on devoloping traditional Chinese garments through
this lens of cultural intersection. The collection aims to create
garments that honor the elegance and heritage of traditional
Chinese fashion while infusing them with a contemporary edge.
